Report: Wal-Mart employee steals 'her money' back

A Wal-Mart cashier was arrested for giving her husband a discount of $91, and allegedly told managers that she did so because the company owed her money for breaking a watch she had brought in to have repaired.

Louisiana Artist Association, which is based in St. Charles Parish, held an open art show at Clearview Mall on June 12-14. An open art show is open to both members and nonmembers. The most popular summer-blooming tree in Louisiana is the crape myrtle with its lovely, long-lasting flowers. Crape myrtles start blooming between mid-May and early June and continue flowering for 80 to 100 days depending on the variety. A seasonal rise in the Mississippi River forced the Spillway Road in the Bonnet Carre Spillway to close on May 13, and the parish has no set date on when the road will be reopened. School is out for the summer and that means it’s time to fish, fish and fish some more. Beat the heat this summer by cooling off in one of St. Charles Parish’s many pools - three on both the east and west banks of the parish. A Willowdale resident threatened to sue the parish over the lack of a 3-way stop sign at Willowdale Boulevard and East Heather, leading Councilman Shelley Tastet to have signs installed temporarily.

Sam struggles with his stepfather, who criticizes him about his Tourette's Syndrome, and struggles to see his true identity, Jack Keegan. “Original Party Animal” by Pallie Miller. got the most votes last week and is the June 11 weekly winner in the St. Charles Herald-Guide’s Camera Shootout 2009 photo contest. A local youth ministry is taking a stance against abortion, and speaking out against violent anti-abortion protests, with a one-two punch through their “KOA: Knock Out Abortion” mission. When Norma Rhodes, 76, planned a family trip to New York City, she had no clue what her 5-day vacation would bring.

Montz resident Dorothy Richard, 65, who died on May 22 after her vehicle became submerged in the murky canal off of Airline Highway, is remembered as a caring woman who only wanted the best for her family and community. MaryAnn Placker of Montz has been battling hypertension for years, so it’s important that she takes her medication correctly and monitors her blood pressure regularly - something the Council On Aging helps her do. For nearly three years, a group of employees at the Shell/Motiva Refinery in Norco has been putting the pedal to the metal to help fund multiple sclerosis research. A 78-year-old Luling woman said that she was forced into her home by a neighbor’s loose dog, which led to the 2-year-old pit-bull mixed breed getting shot in the face by a St. Charles Parish sheriff’s deputy.

After a number of requests to the state have failed to elicit much response, Council President Terry Authement wants to initiate a task force to draw attention to the many problems motorists encounter while driving on U.S. 90.
